13.1 Personal Data Collection and Use

The Organization collects and processes personal data to:

  • Verify member identity and conduct KYC/AML compliance
  • Manage Equb accounts and process contributions
  • Conduct lottery draws and communicate results
  • Generate financial statements and tax documentation
  • Provide customer service and handle disputes
  • Comply with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Improve platform security and functionality

Registration data (Section 4.1)

Upon registration, Equb Members must provide accurate and complete information including:

  • Full legal name (as per government-issued identification)
  • Valid national identification number or passport number
  • Residential address
  • Contact phone number and email address
  • Employment information and income verification
  • Bank account details for payment purposes
  • Emergency contact information

13.2 Data Protection Standards

The Organization shall:

  • Maintain data in secure, encrypted databases with access restricted to authorized personnel only
  • Implement industry-standard cybersecurity measures including firewalls, intrusion detection, and regular security testing
  • Conduct annual security audits and penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities
  • Maintain incident response plans for data breaches or unauthorized access
  • Notify members within 48 hours of any confirmed data breach affecting personal information
  • Comply with Ethiopian data protection laws and international privacy standards

Account security obligations (Section 4.2)

The Organization shall:

  • Implement industry-standard security measures to protect member data
  • Maintain secure servers with encryption protocols for all financial transactions
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
  • Implement multi-factor authentication for account access
  • Maintain access logs and monitor for suspicious activities
  • Establish a incident response plan for data breaches

13.3 Confidentiality Obligations

Members shall:

  • Keep all confidential information provided by the Organization strictly confidential
  • Not disclose login credentials, account details, or personal information to third parties
  • Bear full liability for any damages resulting from their failure to maintain confidentiality
  • Immediately report any suspected unauthorized access or data breaches

13.4 Limitation on Data Sharing

The Organization shall not share member data with third parties except:

  • To comply with court orders or legal requirements
  • For regulatory reporting to financial authorities and law enforcement
  • With vehicle sellers/financing institutions for Vehicle Equb winners
  • With banking partners for payment processing
  • With insurance providers for vehicle Equb coverage verification
